Palaeolama (meaning "early llama") is an extinct genus of North and South American lamine camelid of the Pleistocene. Palaeolama mirifica, the "stout-legged llama", is known from southern California and the southeastern U. S. with the highest concentration of fossil specimens found in Florida,. It was a herbivorous animal that bears great resemblance to both the modern day llama and the camel (both animals come from the same family, Camelidae) It was about 4ft tall. They lived in the open grasslands, in Florida, and fed on grass and leaves of bushes. It was most likely hunted by the Jaguar
